The purpose of the Mathematics programme is to train qualified specialists who have an advanced knowledge of pure and applied mathematics and strong problem-solving skills, so that they can successfully tackle challenging scientific, industrial and economic problems. The graduates will be professionals in modelling and decision-making for different processes in industry and research.

Key Learning Outcomes

The holder of a Master鈥檚 degree in Mathematics has a good insight into mathematical propositions, and is able to prove them and analyse their logical relations. He/she has good working abilities to create a deterministic or stochastic mathematical model of a real process, to analyse and interpret it and to present conclusions. He/she has skills in using computer facilities and information technologies. He/she is also able to work creatively and is open to further education and the development of his/her skills.

Programme Specific Requirements

Motivational interview.
Completed basic Mathematics courses that are usually taught during the first, second, third, and fourth semesters of studies in Mathematics or related fields (Informatics (Computer Science), Physics, Data Science, etc.), or equivalents of these courses:

Mathematical Analysis (Calculus I, II,III or Analysis)

Algebra/Linear Algebra

Differential Equations

Basics of Probability Theory

Basics of Discrete Mathematics/Logic

The required minimum combined average of basic course units in Mathematics shall be >=6 points out of 10 (GPA >= 1.7, 鈥淐-鈥�) and the evaluations of separate basic course units in Mathematics shall be no lower than 5 (GPA >= 1.3, letter grades 鈥淐-鈥� or 鈥淒+鈥�).

In addition, all applicants have to fulfil the general admission requirements.

Graduates can also pursue further studies at the doctoral level in Mathematics or Computer Sciences.
