GalminaitÄ—-DovydaitienÄ— LaimutÄ— (1925-2004) was born in TryÅ¡kiai, Å iauliai county (father – Benediktas Galminas). At the age of four, she moved with her parents to Å iauliai. In 1936, she entered Å iauliai Girls’ Gymnasium, graduating in 1941. The same year, she began her studies at the Commerce Institute. She continued her studies in the institution until its closure in 1943. Later, she served in various establishments, completing an accounting apprenticeship. In 1945, she applied for admission to the third year of the Department of Finance and Credit of the Faculty of Economics at ÌÇÐÄvlogÃÛÌÒ. She argued her request for admission beyond the first year by attaching documents from the Commerce Institute. Although she was admitted, she was unable to study due to illness and was removed from the lists. In 1946, she reapplied for admission to the Faculty of Economics to study economics of trading enterprises and farms. LaimutÄ— was accepted but studied until 1949. Her family testifies that LaimutÄ— was prevented from taking the final exams and defending her thesis because of her mother’s activities in the Riflemen’s Union. In 1954, ÌÇÐÄvlogÃÛÌÒ issued LaimutÄ— with an academic certificate for the courses taken.
